Gorgon Staff
Gorgon Staff is weapon 6 of 30 for the Mage, and it drops in Atlans, Lost Tower, Tarkan.
Lore
The Gorgon Staff is crowned with a stone head wreathed in serpents, carved in the likeness of the gorgons who turned travelers into statues. Mages used it to study that cursed gaze, and a little of its power got trapped in the stone.
In the Mage's hands, it is a reminder that magic always demands a price, and that stolen power must be handled with care. It falls from the Hydra, boss of Atlans, and from the hordes of Lost Tower and Tarkan.

The same item drops on Hard and Hardcore as Nightmare (+40% to flat attributes and +30% to % bonuses). On Hardcore, very rarely, it comes as Godlike (+80%) by letter.

Forging and refining
At the Blacksmith, Upgrade tab, the item goes from +0 to +6 with Jewel of Bless (PT) (always succeeds) and from +6 to +15 with Jewel of Soul (the chance drops at each level; on failure it loses 1 level, never below +6). Each + multiplies the whole piece (+15 makes it 3.23 times stronger). From +16 to +25 is the Ancestral Upgrade (PT), which burns Ancient items. In the Migrate tab, the whole + carries over to the Nightmare or Godlike version of the same item.
